So a few months ago it was Delta, and now we are confronting Omicron and just as winter takes a firm hold in the northern hemisphere. This image below struck me as both funny and spot on. As someone who is fully vaxxed and boosted, I readily admit I have lost all patience with those who refuse to take just the basic precautions, much less get vaccinated. I lost a good friend over this issue, after he admitted that he'd bought into all the conspiracy theories about the vaccine and so refused to get the "jab". Worse, once he caught the virus, along with his entire family, and after two weeks of everyone in his household being so sick they could barely tend to their basic daily needs, he posted on his various social media accounts that having covid was "no worse than the flu I used to get as a kid every year at Thanksgiving, and some people don't even realize they have it it's so mild." This statement, of course, made while willfully ignorant of the 800,000 Americans who've died of the corona virus since it was first declared a public health emergency a year ago last March, and the over 5 million + who've died worldwide, not to mention all those afflicted with long-haulers syndrome and/or with massive medical bills their kids will be lucky if they can pay off in their lifetimes. I cannot abide by people like this. Bad enough they refuse to get vaccinated, bad enough they believe all the crap promulgated by a death cult, but worse, to suggest it's no worse than the flu? Oh well. With the appearance of Omicron, it does appear some people who've avoided getting vaccinated up until now are suddenly "seeing the light". Pity that they didn't see it sooner; if they had, maybe we wouldn't be facing another winter with another variant, and more looming on the horizon.
