Farewell to 2019--and good riddance

New years eve--approaching twilight and the Scottie weathervane I bought in remembrance of my beloved Scottie, Indigo. He was the last of a series of deeply personal losses in this now dying decade, succumbing to cancer in 2016. For a decade that started with such heady promise, personally and as far as my world view, it has certainly ended in despair over the toxic cultural/political environment and the environment in general, where there appears to be a certain glee among some factions at their willful destruction of our world, knowing they won't be around to see the truly appalling results of their greed. While I reflect on those who are no longer with me, I am also relieved to see this new year's eve, an ending, however, arbitrary in a cosmic scale, hopeful that the new year will bring a renewed sense of optimism.
Boy, did I get it wrong! 2019, in comparison to 2020, was a cake walk!
